Dr. Shaileshkumar Bhatt uses intraoral cameras to more closely examine your teeth and smile. An intraoral camera is a small, pen-like tool used to examine your mouth in greater detail. Because the camera is small and easily maneuverable, our dentist can use it to view all areas of your mouth, including those that cannot otherwise be examined.
The camera captures high-quality images of your teeth and supporting structures and immediately transmits those images to a nearby monitor in full color. This allows our dentist to see clearly what is happening inside your mouth. You are also able to view these images, which gives you a much better understanding of your oral health, treatment options and treatment results. The captured images may also be sent to dental specialists or to insurance companies as needed.
Intraoral cameras are often used to diagnose dental problems such as:
- Periodontal disease
- Tooth decay (cavities)
- Tooth damage, such as cracked or chipped teeth
Intraoral cameras may also be used to follow up on your treatment results after you have completed a treatment.
